ABOUT ALAPPUZHA CENTRE


Costford Alappuzha Sub centre was started on December 1995. During this tenure of 25 years about 150 Government works and 70 Private residential buildings were constructed. Training was given to 15 Engineering graduates, 35 Diploma holders and 50 ITI holders. Training was also given to Masons (Men & Women), Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians and technicians. The project prepared for the City development Plan of Alappuzha was selected as the best CDP.In continuation with CDP, development activities were planned with Alappuzha Municipality. Construction of private bus stand, Aerobic Compost Units, MRF Sheds and Anganawadies were done at various wards of Alappuzha Municipality. Sub centre involved in the Flood Relief work. Medical Camp was conducted, cleaning works in the houses etc. after flood during 2018. Genasevanakendram were provided at Alappuzha, Kayamkulam, Chengannoor, Mavelikkara, Cherthala etc.

The Centre of Science and Technology for Rural Development (COSTFORD), is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1985 by Mr. C. Achutha Menon, Kerala’s former Chief Minister; Dr. K.N. Raj, Economist and former Chairman of the Centre for Development Studies (CDS); Laurie Baker, Master Architect; and Mr. T.R. Chandra Dutt, Social Activist.
